Begin at Largo di Torre Argentina, home to ancient Republican temples and the remains of Pompey’s Theatre, then continue to the Trevi Fountain, Rome’s iconic Baroque masterpiece. Admire the Pantheon and the lively elegance of Piazza Navona, once an ancient stadium for Roman “games,” and continue past Piazza Farnese, Campo de’ Fiori, and the Spanish Steps. The afternoon is free for you to tailor your Roman experience to perhaps Ancient Rome at the Colosseum and Forum, or the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel. Dinner is on your own.

Excavations and an Amalfi Coast Drive
Start early with breakfast, then meet your multilingual tour leader and depart by coach for Naples. On arrival, enjoy a guided walk through the city’s most famous sights, including the Royal Palace, Piazza del Plebiscito, the San Carlo Opera House, and the elegant Galleria Umberto I. Continue to Pompeii, stopping first at a coral and cameo factory to see the artistry that has defined the region for centuries. After lunch, explore the excavation sites of Pompeii with a guided visit that brings to life the daily world of ancient Rome and the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 A.D. In the afternoon, meet at the hotel at 3:30 PM for your transfer back, traveling to Pompeii to join another group for the return trip to Rome.
