Arrive on your own in Pollenzo, a charming village in the Langhe region at the heart of Piedmont, not far from the gourmet town of Alba. Check in at your hotel, surrounded by vineyards and gentle hills famous for Barolo and other prestigious wines. Take some time to relax or wander through the picturesque center of Pollenzo. Later, enjoy a welcome drink followed by a guided wine tasting at the hotel’s renowned “Wine Bank,” where you’ll be introduced to some of the best Piedmont wines. Dinner is on your own, giving you the chance to sample local cuisine, and you’ll spend the night at your hotel in Pollenzo.
After breakfast, set off with your rental car for Alba, one of Piedmont’s most elegant towns, known for white truffles, hazelnuts, and excellent wines. Enjoy free time to stroll through the historic center, browse boutiques, and perhaps stop at a café or pastry shop. Have lunch on your own at a local restaurant, then continue to Barolo, the iconic village that gives its name to one of Italy’s most prestigious red wines. Here you’ll visit the Enoteca Regionale del Barolo, located inside the historic Marchesi di Barolo Castle, for a guided tasting of Barolo and other local wines. Afterward, enjoy some free time to wander through Barolo’s charming streets. We suggest ending the afternoon in nearby La Morra, where you can visit the wine museum in the town center and admire sweeping views over the Langhe vineyards. Return to your hotel in Pollenzo in the late afternoon. Dinner is on your own, followed by an overnight stay.
Enjoy breakfast, then continue exploring the Langhe wine region at your own pace. Drive through the picturesque hilltop villages of Monforte d’Alba and Roddino, taking in the views of vineyards and medieval bell towers. Follow a small scenic road to Serralunga d’Alba, dominated by its striking castle. Here you can arrange guided wine tastings at prestigious estates such as Tenimenti di Barolo and Fontanafredda to discover more great Piedmont wines. Stop for lunch on your own at one of the many inviting local restaurants along the way. In the afternoon, continue through Sorano and Gallo d’Alba before visiting the Castle of Grinzane Cavour, a 13th-century manor house that once belonged to statesman Camillo Benso, Count of Cavour, and now hosts the Cavour Literary Prize and important wine events. After time to explore the castle and its surroundings, return to Pollenzo in the late afternoon. Dinner is on your own, and you’ll spend your final night at your hotel.
After breakfast, check out from your hotel as your wine-focused stay in the Langhe region comes to an end. Depart Pollenzo with lasting memories of Alba, Barolo, La Morra, and the historic castles and vineyards of Piedmont’s renowned wine country.
