MAKE THIS ITINERARY YOURS
Turn this sample itinerary into your dream Italy vacation – tailored to your pace, passions, and budget.
Day 1
RAPALLO
Seaside Arrival and Easy Riviera Time
Arrive in Rapallo and settle into your hotel in this pretty Ligurian seaside town. The rest of the day is yours to unwind and ease into the Riviera rhythm. Stroll the waterfront, enjoy a relaxed coffee in the piazza, and take in the coastal views at your own pace.
Day 2
PORTOFINO, SAN FRUTTUOSO ABBEY, CAMOGLI
Walk of the Abbey and Camogli Color
After breakfast, meet your guide and cruise by public boat to glamorous Portofino. From here, set off on foot along a spectacular coastal route to the secluded Abbey of San Fruttuoso. Enjoy a guided visit of the abbey, and if time allows, pause for lunch at your own expense in a charming beachside spot. Then board a boat to Camogli, where the short cruise may reveal the unusual water surfaces and, with luck, a glimpse of the underwater memorial “Cristo degli Abissi.” In Camogli, enjoy time to explore this colorful fishing town and sample the famous local “camogliesi” cake before returning to Rapallo by private transfer.
Day 3
CINQUE TERRE NATIONAL PARK, MANAROLA, CORNIGLIA, VOLASTRA, VERNAZZA, MONTEROSSO
Pathways Through Cinque Terre
After breakfast, travel by train to Manarola and meet your guide for an introduction to one of Cinque Terre’s most photogenic villages. Then begin a beautiful, relatively easy hike toward Corniglia, passing through Volastra along a scenic path that reveals the true meaning of “Cinque Terre”—land patiently carved from the mountains into terraces through generations of determined work. After a short visit in Corniglia, enjoy lunch on your own in a welcoming local inn with its own wine cellar, where the atmosphere feels like dining in a private home. Continue by train to Vernazza for more village charm, then end in Monterosso with time to browse shops before returning to Rapallo by train.
Day 4
CAMPIGLIA, PORTOVENERE, GULF OF POETS
From Campiglia’s viewpoints to Portovenere’s harbor
After breakfast, meet your guide and transfer by private minivan to Campiglia, a small hamlet perched between Cinque Terre and La Spezia. From here, set out on a spectacular 2-hour route overlooking the Gulf of Poets from a rare, off-the-main-tourist-track perspective. Descend toward Portovenere, passing the fortress before emerging right into the heart of town. After lunch on your own, you may choose to enhance the afternoon with an optional mini-cruise on a private caique to the islands of Palmaria, Tino, and Tinetto, including a stop at a charming inlet to taste local produce (optional, not included). Return to your hotel by minivan.
Day 5
RAPALLO
Farewell to the Ligurian Riviera
Enjoy breakfast, then check out of your hotel in Rapallo as your Ligurian journey comes to an end. Depart with lasting memories of coastal walks, colorful villages, and the sea-sparkled beauty of the Italian Riviera.
