Detailed itinerary:
Meet with your driver and head to the village of Aquileia, about an hour's drive from the port. Today, Aquileia might be a sleepy agricultural village, but it has deep historical roots, as it was founded in 181 B.C. and was once a center of art and economic trade in the ancient world. Perhaps the most significant monument is the town's Basilica, a massive Romanesque construction with beautiful mosaic floors and ongoing Roman excavations. You will round out your tour with a visit to a local vineyard, where you will be welcomed warmly and offered the chance to enjoy local hospitality and sample some of the region's finest red and white wines. After your vineyard visit, your tour will wrap up with a coach ride back to port.
