Day 1: VENICE
Arrival at the hotel on your own. Check in and welcome drink at the hotel. Rest of the evening at leisure to relax and discover this magical and enchanting city. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 2: VENICE, WINE AND CICCHETTI TASTING
After breakfast at the hotel, meet with your guide for an approximately 2 hour walking tour to explore the well-known highlights of this city that seems suspended in a timeless dream. Enjoy stops at some of Venice's major highlights including St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace. Afterwards, lunch will be on your own. In the afternoon there will be a wine tasting of typical Venetian wines led by a professional wine taster. He or she will give you information about the history of each wine and their organic characteristics as well as their versatility in matching with local food. You can have a tasting either before dinner or as a light meal adding a selection of different kinds of Veneto cheeses and traditional Venetian appetizers called "cicchetti". All tastings will take place in a typical "osteria" chosen for the quality of its wines and food (food not included). The rest of evening is free. Dinner on your own and overnight stay at your hotel accommodation.
Day 3: VENICE, COOKING CLASS
After breakfast at your hotel, immerse yourself in the gastronomical tradition of Venice. In a local palazzo near the Rialto Market, you will meet an expert chef who will introduce you to staples of traditional Italian and Venetian cuisine, ranging from the delicate freshness of local seasonal vegetables to savory dishes such as "sarde in saor" (fried sardines marinated in onions) or "baccala' mantecato" (salted cod cooked in cream), and regional cookies like the Zaeti, made with corn meal and raisins. The chef will entertain you by analyzing the intriguing fragrances, the exotic origins of some of the ingredients, and you will learn about the cooking processes and the products being used. You will gain an understanding as to why, centuries after their creation these dishes are still so popular. The irresistible lunch, prepared in front of your eyes, will be served in the large dining room of this authentic Venetian home. A memorable day in Venice, indeed one never to be forgotten! We suggest you conclude your afternoon by taking a trip on a Gondola at sunset so that you can admire this wonderful city directly from the water as its lights are slowly switched on. After breakfast, check out from the hotel and end of our services.
