Mantua has a reputation for being a great destination of art lovers. The dialect of the citizens of Mantua is considered harsh by other Italians. The mood is considered somber befitting a place that is muggy in the summer, and foggy in the winter that made it appropriate for the setting of the Verdi's opera Rigoletto. Not just a museum piece, and a vibrant city, Mantua hosts, since 1996, an international festival of literature every year in September. There is also a jazz festival each July.
