During the excursion, you will take walking tours of both towns to learn about the history of the island and its major monuments. You will also have time at leisure for optional activities such as visiting Villa San Michele in Anacapri, hiking the local trails that span the island, boarding a rowboat to admire the famous Blue Grotto or enjoying a chair lift ride to the top of Mount Solaro for beautiful panoramic views of the island and the sea. Spend some time in the Piazzetta, considered to be the heart of Capri's social life, then stroll the small streets and enjoy shopping at the local artisan workshops. Detailed itinerary:
Your day will begin with a boat ride from Sorrento to the Port of Capri and a 20 minute bus ride to Anacapri, where you will enjoy a guided walking tour of this beautiful village and some free time to visit Villa San Michele, built on the ruins of a home belonging to Emperor Tiberius and filled with antiquities from Egypt and Rome (Optional visit, not included). We will take another minibus to the center of Capri where you will enjoy a guided walking tour of the town's narrow streets and hidden gems. The guided tour ends in the Augustus Gardens, where you will be able to see the villa of Golden Age movie star Gracie Fields. Afterwards, you will have 2 hours of free time to enjoy the town and the famous Piazzetta, known for its shopping and delicious outdoor cafes. You may also enjoy taking a boat ride to the Blue Grotto, the famous sea cave that is illuminated in a unique blue light (Optional activity, not included. Sea conditions may not permit access), or perhaps a ride on the chairlift to Mount Solaro (Optional activity, not included). Your day will end meeting up with your tour guide at the port, where you will take the ferry back to Sorrento. Expected arrival in Sorrento in the evening.
