Aosta
Aosta, the regional capital of the Valle d'Aosta, is situated in a fertile alpine basin surrounded by the high peaks of Mount Emilius, the Becca di Viou and the Becca di Nona. It has a rich ancient heritage full of Roman buildings and medieval castles, as little has changed since the ancient Augusta Praetoria, the first roman settlement, the city remains wonderfully preserved.
Aosta is also an important center for international commerce traffic thanks to its strategic position on the main routes which link Italy to France and Switzerland.
