TRAVEL ITINERARY:
DAY 1: MILAN, VERONA, PADUA
Meet and greet with your group early the morning at a designated meeting point in the historical center of Milan and head by motor coach to romantic Verona, home of Romeo and Juliet. You'll take a walking tour of the city, stopping at Castelvecchio, a castle on the river, Piazza Bra with Verona’s Arena, an intact Roman amphitheater, Piazza dei Signori and the Juliet house, where you can see Juliet's balcony and touch a statue of Juliet for luck in love. After lunch (not included), the tour will continue to Padua, home of the venerated Saint Anthony of Padua. You'll take a sightseeing tour of the major sites, including the Basilica of St Anthony, Prato Della Valle square (the largest square in Italy), Piazza dei Signori and historic Caffe Pedrocchi, famous haunt of writers and artists. You'll spend the night in Padua at your hotel in the city center.
DAY 2: CRUISE ON THE BRENTA RIVER (or by bus), STRA, DOLO, MIRA, MALCONTENTA
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll board a ferry to tour the old merchant routes on the Brenta River connecting Padua to Venice. You'll pass through famous villas and charming towns on this relaxing ride. The first stop will be in Stra with a visit to the Villa Pisani art museum. You'll visit Dolo next, home to 16th century mills, where you'll have time for lunch (not included) and continue on to Mira, passing by quaint villages and villas and crossing the Canal Lock of Dolo. You'll have the chance to visit Villa Widmann and Villa Foscari (optional, not included), before disembarking in Malcontenta. You'll take a minibus back to your hotel in Padua and get a good night's rest.
(IMPORTANT: From November to March the Brenta River cruise does not operate. Instead, you will visit the area by bus with a local guide).
DAY 3: TRIESTE
You'll enjoy breakfast before departing to Trieste, a city and seaport on the border of Italy and Slovenia that belonged to the Austrian-Hungarian Empire until the end of World War I. Its position and historical past offer unique architectural and cultural features and a rich literary heritage. The tour will follow the major points of interest, including the Castle Miramare, Piazza Italia, the Red Palace, the City Hall, the Roman Amphitheater and the Victory Lighthouse overlooking the Adriatic Sea. You'll have free time for lunch (not included) and to stroll the old town streets. Perhaps you'll visit one of the famed literary cafes, where James Joyce wrote, or take photos of the stunning blends of architecture styles. The day will end back in Padua for an overnight stay.
DAY 4: VICENZA, SOAVE CASTLE, ALPONE VALLEY, MILAN
After breakfast, we'll leave Padua to take a sightseeing tour of Vicenza, home to master architect Andrea Palladio. You'll walk past such lovely works as the Palladian Basilica, Piazza dei Signori, Chericati Palace and Villa Capra, among Palladio’s most important works, as well as the old town district. Soave is our next stop: a beautiful walled town famous for its castle and the Soave white wine. You will drive along a panoramic route through the valley where Soave wine is produced and after lunch you will head back to Milan. The tour, and our services, will end in Milan.
