Once you arrive in Rome, head to your centrally located hotel and check in. Spend the rest of the day exploring the highlights of the city at your own pace. Perhaps visit the open-air beauty of Piazza Navona or the iconic Spanish Steps, or immerse yourself in the art and history at the Capitoline Museums. In the evening, enjoy your first dinner in Rome at a local restaurant before settling in for an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 2
ROME
The Eternal City’s Historic Charm
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then set out on a self-guided morning tour of Rome’s renowned sights. Don’t miss the Pantheon, Campo de’ Fiori, Piazza del Popolo, and a coin toss at the Trevi Fountain. If it’s Wednesday, consider attending the Papal Audience in St. Peter’s Square (tickets available through Trips 2 Italy). After a delicious lunch at a family-owned restaurant, your afternoon includes visits to the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the Basilica of St. John Lateran, and the Holy Stairs, followed by a guided walking tour of the ancient Catacombs. Return to Rome for dinner at a traditional trattoria, and cap off your evening with a stroll and some authentic gelato.

ROME
Timeless Landmarks at Every Turn
Start your day with breakfast and enjoy a leisurely morning. Consider exploring Ancient Rome at the Colosseum and Roman Forum, or admire Renaissance masterpieces at the Borghese Gallery (advance reservations recommended for both). After lunch, join a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, where you’ll discover highlights such as the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel, and enjoy an interior visit to St. Mark’s Basilica. When the tour concludes, take time to further explore the Basilica or wander the Vatican area, including St. Peter’s Square and Castel Sant’Angelo. End your day with dinner at a local restaurant and your final overnight in Rome.e Borghese Gallery instead, which hosts an impressive collection of Renaissance art (optional activity, not included. Museum entrance reservations required). Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant and then your afternoon will be dedicated to the Vatican Museums. You will join a guided walking tour of the complex and will admire many highlights including the Raphael Rooms and the Sistine Chapel. The tour also includes an interior visit of St. Mark’s Basilica. Once the tour concludes, you will be able to further explore the Basilica on your own, admiring its many chapels and perhaps heading to the top of the dome for a unique view of Rome. Afterwards, feel free to continue exploring the Vatican area; there is much more to see, such as the area around St. Peter’s Square and the Castel Sant’Angelo, which at one time was a Papal fortress and today is a museum. Once you are finished, return to your hotel and then enjoy a nice dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 4
ROME, POMPEII, VESUVIUS, SORRENTO

After breakfast and check-out, say “Arrivederci” to Rome and depart for Pompeii via private vehicle. Upon arrival, enjoy a private guided walking tour of the archeological ruins, exploring ancient streets and learning about the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. After lunch, your driver will take you directly to your hotel in Sorrento’s city center. Check in, take a pleasant stroll through the town, and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant before your overnight stay.
Day 5
SORRENTO COUNTRYSIDE

After breakfast, depart on an excursion along the scenic Amalfi Coast. Your first stop is picturesque Positano, where you’ll have time to explore the town and visit the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Continue to Amalfi to wander its historic streets, see the impressive Cathedral, and admire the Cloister of Paradise. Sample the region’s famous Limoncello before returning to Sorrento. Freshen up at your hotel, then head out for dinner at a welcoming family-owned restaurant and a restful night.
Day 6
SORRENTO, POSITANO, AMALFI

After breakfast at the hotel you will spend the day visiting the iconic cliffside towns of the Amalfi Coast. Your first stop will be Positano, famous for beautiful coastal views and the colorful maiolica dome of the Church of Santa Maria Assunta. Enjoy the Positano’s romantic atmosphere before continuing on to Amalfi where you will explore the town’s winding streets taking in historic monuments such as the Cathedral and interacting with the friendly locals. Do not miss your chance to taste locally-made Limoncello, a lemon liqueur, and be sure to visit the town’s boutiques to shop for artisan goods. Return to Sorrento in the late afternoon to enjoy dinner followed by an overnight stay at your hotel.

Explore the sights of both Anacapri, including the breathtaking Villa San Michele, and Capri, with its panoramic Gardens of Augustus and lively Piazzetta.
