Your Italy escorted tour begins with an early morning meeting with your tour leader at a designated point in Rome. Travel by motor coach to Assisi, a charming hill town in Umbria known for its ancient walls and the Basilica of Saint Francis, home to priceless frescoes by Giotto and Cimabue. Continue into Tuscany and arrive in Siena, one of Italy’s best-preserved medieval cities, renowned for its historic Palio horse race. Enjoy time at leisure to wander the atmospheric streets, visit Piazza del Campo, admire the Palazzo Pubblico, and look up at the Torre del Mangia. In the afternoon, journey on to Florence, the Cradle of the Renaissance and one of Italy’s most important art cities. Share a welcome dinner with your group and spend the night at your centrally located Florence hotel.
After breakfast, discover Florence’s Renaissance treasures on a guided sightseeing tour. Explore Piazza del Duomo, admire the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore with Brunelleschi’s dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery of St. John, whose bronze doors Michelangelo famously praised. The rest of the day is at your leisure: art lovers can visit the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s David, while shoppers can browse Florence’s lively markets and artisan boutiques. Alternatively, opt for an afternoon excursion to Pisa to see the world-famous Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli (optional, not included). In the evening, enjoy dinner with your group and a relaxing overnight stay in Florence.
Enjoy breakfast before departing Florence for Venice. En route, stop in Padua, one of Italy’s oldest cities, for a brief visit to the Basilica of St. Anthony, famed for its beautiful frescoes and the bronze equestrian statue of Gattamelata by Donatello. Continue to Venice, an iconic city built on water, known for its romantic canals and timeless architecture. After checking into your hotel on the main Venice Island, join a guided walking tour to see Piazza San Marco, the exterior of the Doge’s Palace, the Bridge of Sighs, and the historic Prisons. Share dinner with your group and spend the night immersed in Venice’s unique atmosphere.
After breakfast, cross the Venetian lagoon by boat to the Island of Murano, world-famous for its centuries-old glassmaking tradition. Visit a local glass factory and watch skilled artisans handcraft unique Murano glass pieces using time-honored techniques. Return to Venice for a free afternoon to explore at your own pace. Perhaps enjoy a romantic gondola ride (optional), shop for Venetian masks and glass souvenirs, or relax with a classic Bellini at a café overlooking the Grand Canal. In the evening, enjoy dinner and another overnight stay at your Venice hotel.
After breakfast, leave Venice and head toward Northern Italy’s most scenic destinations. Your first stop is Verona, the romantic setting of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, where you’ll enjoy a brief visit of the historic center. Continue to Sirmione on Lake Garda, a charming lakeside town where you’ll have free time for lunch and a stroll along the waterfront. In the afternoon, travel to Lake Como for a short panoramic visit of this stunning alpine lake, framed by elegant villas and dramatic mountains. Arrive in Milan, Italy’s fashion and design hub, for dinner with your group and an overnight stay at your hotel.
Enjoy your final breakfast before setting out on a panoramic tour of Milan’s historic center. Admire the majestic Duomo, one of Europe’s most impressive Gothic cathedrals, see the elegant Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and view the imposing Sforza Castle from the outside.
