Your Italy sightseeing tour begins with pickup at a designated meeting point in the historic center of Rome. Travel by motor coach to Assisi, a charming hilltop town in Umbria. Enjoy free time to wander the medieval streets and, if you wish, visit the Basilica of St. Francis, where the Upper and Lower Churches are adorned with breathtaking frescoes. After lunch on your own, continue through the rolling Tuscan countryside to Siena, renowned for its rich medieval heritage and the Palio horse race held twice a year in Piazza del Campo. Stroll through Siena’s atmospheric historic center and capture beautiful photos of its Gothic architecture. Later in the afternoon, travel on to Florence, where you’ll enjoy dinner with the group and an overnight stay.
After breakfast, discover Florence—the “Cradle of the Renaissance”—on a guided walking tour of its historic center. Admire the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore crowned by Brunelleschi’s Dome, Giotto’s Bell Tower, and the Baptistery with its bronze doors so beautiful that Michelangelo called them the “Gates of Paradise.” Continue to Piazza della Signoria with Palazzo Vecchio and the Santa Croce Basilica, resting place of many illustrious Italians. Enjoy lunch on your own, then spend the afternoon as you prefer: browse boutiques and artisan shops, or visit the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo’s David or the Uffizi Gallery to admire masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo, and Raphael (optional, not included; skip-the-line reservations can be arranged on request). Alternatively, you may opt for an excursion to Pisa to see the Leaning Tower and Piazza dei Miracoli (optional, not included). In the evening, join the group for dinner and a final overnight stay in Florence.
After breakfast and check-out, board the motor coach bound for Bologna, famous for its rich cuisine, medieval towers, and elegant porticoes. As you explore the historic center, you’ll see landmarks such as the Podestà Palace, Piazza del Nettuno with its Neptune Fountain, and the Basilica of San Petronio. After lunch on your own, continue to Padua, one of Italy’s oldest university cities, where you’ll visit the Basilica of St. Anthony, renowned for its architecture and beautiful frescoes. The journey then continues to Venice, a unique city built on water, known for its canals, bridges, and timeless charm. Enjoy dinner with the group and spend the night in Venice.
After breakfast, begin your Venice sightseeing in iconic St. Mark’s Square. Visit the interior of St. Mark’s Basilica, famous for its golden mosaics and Byzantine splendor, and admire the exterior of the Doge’s Palace, once the seat of the Venetian Republic. See the Bridge of Sighs, which leads to the former prison where Casanova was once held. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy Venice at your own pace: shop for Murano glass and masks, visit additional museums, or take an optional excursion to Murano Island to watch master glassblowers at work. You might also choose to sip a classic Bellini along the Grand Canal or enjoy a gondola ride through the smaller canals (optional, not included). In the evening, have dinner with the group and spend another night in Venice.
After breakfast, leave Venice by motor coach and journey through the postcard-perfect landscapes of Tuscany, with rolling hills, vineyards, farmhouses, and ancient churches. Stop in Montepulciano, a medieval hilltop town renowned for its art, architecture, and prestigious red wines. Enjoy free time to wander the historic streets, visit local wine shops or cellars, and, if you wish, sample Montepulciano’s celebrated wines. In the afternoon, continue by coach to Rome, arriving in the evening. Your arrival in the Eternal City marks the end of your Italy escorted tour and our services.
