TRAVEL ITINERARY:
1ST DAY – ROME-NAPLES-POMPEII-SORRENTO
Meet in the early morning in the historical city center of Rome and depart for Naples. Upon arrival in Naples, an expert guide will take you on a fascinating walking tour of the magical and historical center of the city. During the tour, you will visit the largest square in all of Naples, the Piazza del Plebiscito. View important sites including the historical Royal Palace with beautiful frescoes and tapestries, the breathtaking Gallery of Umberto I, with its stunning wrought iron and glass dome, and the stately San Carlo Opera House, which is still in working condition today. From Naples, you will continue on to the ancient Roman town of Pompeii. Here you will visit a charming factory that produces coral and cameos, a specialty of the local artisans. Next you will have lunch at one of the local restaurants to experience the cuisine of this area. Following lunch, you will tour the excavations of Pompeii and witness first-hand the devastation caused by the eruption Mount Vesuvius which covered the city in ash and stone in 79 AD. After experiencing the ruins, you will head to the Sorrentine Peninsula and see the beautiful cliffs and majestic crags from Sorrento. A delightful dinner and cozy night’s stay will be provided at a local hotel.
2ND DAY – SORRENTO-CAPRI-SORRENTO
After a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel, you will depart for the enchanting Island of Capri. A lovely ride on the ferry will take you to Marina Grande, the main port of the Island of Capri. The first attraction will be the breathtaking Blue Grotto (weather and sea conditions permitting). This is a fabulous cave that is tinted in a brilliant blue light as a result of the sun’s rays reflecting off the water. The next stop on today’s tour will be the exquisite Augustus Gardens. Along with the lush foliage and beautiful statues, you will be able to see splendid views of the island and the turquoise waters of the sea. Then we will stop at the famous Piazzetta, which is the heart of social life on the island. Next a minibus will transport you to the small town of Anacapri, which is positioned at a higher elevation compared to the rest of the island. Here, you will enjoy a quaint lunch followed by an escort back to Marina Grande for the return trip to Sorrento. A lovely dinner and comfortable night’s stay will be enjoyed at a centrally located hotel.
3RD DAY – SORRENTO-ROME
A delicious buffet style breakfast will be provided by the hotel to start your last day in Sorrento. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to do with as you wish. Feel free to explore the lively and colorful town of Sorrento, or partake in a visit of the other popular and beautiful villages on the peninsula, such as the rocky area of Amalfi, and the charming villages of Ravello and Positano. Meet the tour leader in the afternoon and board the motor coach for the trip back to Rome, bringing you back to Rome at approximately 9:00 p.m. Upon arrival in Rome the tour and our services will end.
