Turin, an elegant city located in northern Italy with an extensive history influenced by the Savoy Royal Family, is a perfect place for young travelers to watch history come to life. The itinerary of this unique travel package is designed to give families flexibility and plenty of leisure time to explore Turin and the surrounding area at the pace that is best suited for them. On the first day, travelers will explore the city center during a kid-friendly walking tour led by an expert local guide that will cover Turin's iconic highlights including Piazza Castello and Palazzo Madama. Afterwards, there will be two full days for families to continue their own independent discovery of Turin. During this time you could visit Turin's eminent museums, such as the Egyptian Museum, and spend some time outside of Turin visiting the historic Reggia di Venaria Reale, considered to be the most grand of the Savoy Family's former royal residences. Day 1: TURIN
Upon arrival in Turin, check into your hotel and begin your unforgettable family vacation. Take some time to settle into the hotel and then you'll be off to discover the wonders of the city center with your expert local guide. The unique historical city center of Turin features a number of architectural styles, including Neo-Classical and Art Nouveau, and several ornate historical palaces that are sure to amaze even the youngest of travelers. As you make your way through the city center admiring Turin's iconic sites such as Palazzo Madama, Piazza Castello, Piazza San Carlo and Palazzo Reale, your guide will recount plenty of family-friendly anecdotes and provide historical context in an entertaining way. You will learn about Turin's illustrious history featuring the former Kings of Italy (the Royal House of Savoy) and Turin's role in the unification of Italy. After the tour, unwind at a historic cafe sampling local pastries, fruit juices and the famous "Bicerin" a traditional drink composed of chocolate, espresso and milk. This evening you will enjoy dinner at a local restaurant (your travel specialist will provide guidance and recommendations) before spending your first night at your city center hotel accommodation.
Day 2: TURIN
Take it easy this morning and enjoy a nice breakfast at your hotel before continuing your sightseeing in Turin's city center. You may wish to visit one of Turin's famous museums with unique exhibits that are sure to capture the imagination of travelers of all ages. Stop by the impressive Mole Antonelliana, which dominates Turin's skyline, and visit the National Cinema Museum, noteworthy for its modern layout and interactive exhibits that illustrate the history of cinema. A trip to this museum is not complete without stepping into the elevator, which almost feels like a spaceship, and traveling the very top of the Mole Antonelliana's tower where you will enjoy stunning panoramic views of Turin and the surrounding area. Also of note is Turin's Egyptian Museum that is filled with intriguing artifacts and provides a fascinating look into this ancient civilization. Finally, young car enthusiasts may enjoy a visit to the National Automobile Museum with nearly 200 historic models on display and interactive exhibits highlighting the history of the automobile as well as Turin's role at the center of Italy's automobile industry. Take a break for lunch at a historic restaurant tasting local dishes such as Agnolotti, handmade pasta filled with roasted meats and vegetables. Later, you may wish to spend some time outdoors walking along the banks of the Po River or visiting one of Turin's parks. In the evening, you'll enjoy another delicious dinner and then spend the night at your hotel.
Day 3: TURIN, STUPINIGI PALACE, RIVOLI CASTLE, REGGIA DI VENARIA
Begin the day with a hearty breakfast at your hotel. Afterwards, you will have a full day at leisure to create more long-lasting family memories. We recommend driving to the outskirts of Turin and visiting the castles and former royal palaces of the House of Savoy. There is plenty to discover and noteworthy sites include the Palazzina di Caccia di Stupinigi, a hunting lodge that dates back to the 1700s, and the Castle of Rivoli, one of the Savoy family's former fortresses that is now home to the first contemporary art museum in Italy. Be sure to dedicate some time to the Reggia di Venaria Reale , which is among the largest royal palaces in the world and is Turin's answer to Versailles. Explore the palace's lavish interior rooms, grand halls and lush gardens. Children will enjoy watching history come to life as they admire artifacts of the former Royal Family of Italy first-hand.
Later in the day, return to your hotel to unwind before a very special dinner at one of Turin's best restaurants where you will celebrate your final evening in this enchanting city. Afterwards, return to your hotel where you will spend the night.
Day 4: TURIN
Enjoy your last breakfast and then check out of the hotel, at which point the tour and our services will end.
