Enjoy breakfast at the hotel, then take the day to discover Tropea’s many treasures. The historic center is home to several important monuments from Tropea’s past, including the twelfth-century Cathedral of Maria Santissima di Romania, the Church of Gesù, and the Church of Annunziata.
Of course, travelers should not miss the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola, which is located on a promontory and watches over Tropea. The clifftop sanctuary is set against the background of the brilliant blue sea and has become a symbol of the town that embodies the beauty of the Calabria region. The origins of the church are medieval, though the current building has undergone several reconstructions following earthquakes. In order to reach the sanctuary, travelers climb up a series of steps cut into the rock. The views from the top of the promontory are more than worth the trip, while the interior of the sanctuary features old stone walls and beautiful works of art.
Today you will also visit a farmhouse in the surroundings of Tropea for an unforgettable culinary experience and cooking class. During the excursion, you will learn about Calabria’s unique traditions and products, such as ‘nduja spreadable pork sausage. After visiting the farm, roll up your sleeves and participate in a hands-on cooking class. Immerse in the fresh, local flavors, and then enjoy the fruits of your labor. In the evening, return to your hotel for the night.

For lunch, you can pack a picnic like the locals or enjoy regional specialties at a seaside restaurant.
In the afternoon, head to Tropea’s harbor and embark on a panoramic cruise to the island of Stromboli. Part of Sicily’s Aeolian Islands, Stromboli is an active volcano with consistent minor eruptions. Upon arrival, you will have time to explore the island and admire the natural scenery, including the black sand volcanic beaches. Afterwards, return to the boat to catch an unforgettable glimpse of the volcano’s natural explosions that light up the night sky. This stunning natural phenomenon is truly a sight to be seen.
