Lake Como, considered by many to be the most beautiful lake in all of Italy, offers breathtaking scenery thanks to its position at the foothills of the Alps. There are plenty of quaint villages to explore as you take the ferry and navigate around the lake. A few must-sees include Tremezzo, renowned for Villa Carlotta, Bellagio, which is nicknamed the "Pearl of Lake Como", and Varenna, a small fishermen village with hiking trails and villas with beautiful gardens. While in the area, take advantage of your proximity to Switzerland with a stop in Lugano, a city well-known for its own scenic lake. End your trip with a visit to Como, a lakeside city with a beautiful Cathedral, stunning villas and a rich history. During this 4 day travel package you will spend your days leisurely exploring picturesque Lake Como, one of northern Italy's crown jewels.
Day 1: LAKE COMO, MOLTRASIO, TREMEZZO, VILLA CARLOTTA
Arrival at your hotel on Lake Como and check into your accommodation. In the afternoon we suggest traveling to Tremezzo and visiting the splendid Villa Carlotta, one of the most beautiful villas in the area well known for its gardens. Afterwards, stop in Moltrasio, near Como, and enjoy a welcome dinner at a small local restaurant. Overnight stay at your hotel accommodation
Day 2: COMO, BELLAGIO, VILLA SERBELLONI, VILLA MELZI
After breakfast at your hotel, we recommend a trip on the ferry which in less than an hour will take you to Bellagio,the world renowned "Pearl of Lake Como" thanks to its strategic position rising on the promontory of the two branches of the lake: the Como branch and the Lecco branch. Bellagio is also famous for the majestic villas that dominate the stunning scenery. First among them is the 14th century Villa Serbelloni, which faces a huge park and nowadays is a luxury hotel. Another villa worth visiting is the neoclassical Villa Melzi with its very beautiful gardens including the first example of an English style garden in Italy. Return to Como by ferry admiring the beautiful vistas over the lake, the mountains and the villas along the way (be sure to keep an eye out for George Clooney’s villa too). Afterwards, return to your hotel accommodation. In the evening enjoy dinner on your own and an overnight stay at your hotel.
Day 3: LUGANO, LUGANO LAKE (Switzerland)
Today after breakfast at your hotel, we suggest taking an interesting excursion to Lugano, Switzerland (passport required). Transfer on your own by car to Lugano, a romantic Swiss town overlooking Lake Lugano and the Alps. Lunch on your own for a chance to try some local specialties, such as cheese fondue. In the afternoon, you will have time at your disposal for further exploration. Shopping lovers may wish to stop at the Foxtown outlet in Mendrisio on the way back to Como in order to visit the shops of various Italian and international brands. Return to your hotel in Moltrasio. Dinner on your own and overnight stay.
Day 4: COMO
After breakfast, check out of hotel and transfer to Como where you will meet with your local guide for a walking tour of the historical center of Como. You will visit the main monuments of this lovely town including the beautiful Cathedral. Later, you will have time to do some shopping in the many boutiques along the pedestrian area. Look for silk, traditionally produced here for hundreds of years. Stop for a light lunch or a cappuccino in one of the many cafes overlooking the lake shores. The end of your walking tour in Como marks the end of our services.
