Day 1

ROME

Arrive in the Eternal City and make your way to your centrally located hotel. After check-in, take the afternoon to wander the area around your hotel and discover some of Rome’s iconic outdoor sights, such as the Trevi Fountain. In the evening, immerse yourself in local life by dining in a characteristic Roman neighborhood like Trastevere, where you’ll enjoy authentic Roman cuisine and a vibrant atmosphere. Return to your hotel for your first overnight stay in Rome.

Day 2

ROME

Enjoy your first breakfast at the hotel then spend your morning discovering the highlights of Rome’s city center. You may wish to stop by areas such as the Spanish Steps or the Pantheon to do some sightseeing. Alternatively, you could visit one of Rome’s open-air markets, such as the daily market in Campo de’ Fiori, where local vendors sell fresh fruits, vegetables and other culinary products. Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a family-owned restaurant (your Trips 2 Italy travel specialists will give you plenty of restaurant recommendations). Then, in the afternoon you will take an excursion to the Catacombs that will include stops at several religious sites including the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore and the Basilica of St. John Lateran. Dinner tonight will be at a typical trattoria, where you will have the chance to taste one of Rome’s famous pasta dishes such as carbonara (pasta with egg, cured pork, cheese and black pepper) or cacio e pepe (pasta with Pecorino Romano cheese and freshly ground black pepper). Day 3

ROME

Enjoy breakfast, then continue exploring Rome’s city center at your own pace. Consider visiting the Colosseum and Roman Forum for a journey into Ancient Rome or opt for a museum like the Borghese Gallery (advance reservations recommended). After lunch, join a guided tour of the Vatican Museums, where you’ll see the Tapestry Gallery, Map Gallery, Raphael Rooms, and the Sistine Chapel. The tour ends inside St. Peter’s Basilica, allowing you time to explore its chapels and crypt independently. Afterwards, perhaps visit Castel Sant’Angelo for scenic views before enjoying dinner at a local restaurant and your final overnight in Rome.

Day 4

ROME, POMPEII, VESUVIUS, SORRENTO

After breakfast and check-out, depart Rome and travel south, stopping in Pompeii for a private guided tour of the ancient city preserved by volcanic ash. Learn about daily life in Pompeii before the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, then continue with your private driver to Sorrento. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and spend the afternoon at leisure, perhaps exploring artisan workshops or sampling local Limoncello. In the evening, dine at a seafront restaurant, savoring fresh seafood, before returning to your hotel for an overnight stay.

SORRENTO COUNTRYSIDE

Begin your day with breakfast, then meet your private driver for a culinary adventure. Visit a local pasta factory to learn the art of pasta making and discover regional recipes. Next, tour a farmhouse on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, exploring the orchards and vineyards. Enjoy breakfast and prepare for a scenic day trip to the island of Capri. Visit the picturesque Villa San Michele in Anacapri and stroll through the lush Gardens of Augustus in Capri town. Weather permitting, take a boat to the famous Blue Grotto to marvel at its glowing blue waters. Spend time browsing Capri’s upscale boutiques and artisan shops, perhaps purchasing handmade sandals or Limoncello. After a full day of exploration, return to Sorrento for your final dinner and overnight stay.
