Monuments and Museums
Piazza Walther
The town's small historic center, Piazza Walther, or Waltherplatz, offer Tyrolean architecture, winding streets, outdoor cafes and restaurants, creating a charming picturesque atmosphere.
Via dei Portici
The Via dei Portici or Lubengasse is the produce market. It is held every morning except Sunday.
Museo Archeologico
A museum that displays regional treasures, artifacts, crafts, and works of art, its main exhibit is the 5000 year old mummified body of the hunter Otzi. He was discovered by chance in the Similaun glacier and is housed with his equipment.
Castles
Castles Mareccio, Castle Roncolo, Castle Firmiano, Castle Rafenstein. Castel Roncolo is the most accessible of Bolzano's medieval fortresses. A winding path to the castle offers a spectacular view of the city. Inside, you'll discover devil masks, demonic statues, and mannequins juxtaposed with lavish frescoes.
