Turin is famous for its use of aromatic herbs, fish and extra virgin olive oil. It is also know as the "capital of sweets" known especially for their Revigliasco cherries and scrumptious chocolate. Turin is said to have produced chocolate even before Switzerland. Famous chocolatiers of this region include Giroldi/Givliano and Peyrano.
Turin has become increasingly popular for its excellent selection of red wines. The sunny climate and rich soil of the region have given birth to a superior line of wines. Famous wines of the region include: Barolo, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto and Barbera all of which are beginning to earn acclaimed status throughout the world.
