From ROME to VENICE
PACKAGE HIGHLIGHTS:

TRAVEL ITINERARY:
Day 01: ROME
Arrival in Rome and transfer to the hotel on your own. There'll be free time for you to start discovering the city until the evening, when you'll meet with your tour assistant which will provide you information regarding your travel itinerary. You'll spend the night in the hotel in Rome.
Day 02: ROME
You'll have breakfast at the hotel to be ready for a day in the Eternal City. In the morning you will have free time to enjoy Rome on your own pace. Discover the beautiful fountains and squares of Rome, enjoy a cappuccino with Italian pastries in one of the many outdoor café, or participate at the Pope Mass in Saint Peter Square (on Sundays). In the afternoon join a sightseeing tour along the Appian Way, viewing ancient ruins and churches, such as Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica, St. John Lateran Basilica, Scala Santa (Holy stairs) and the Christian Catacombs. Dinner will be had at a nice typical trattoria, far from the tourist traps, among the locals. Overnight at your Hotel in Rome.
Day 03: ROME
After breakfast, you'll enjoy a morning at leisure. Perhaps you'll visit the Colosseum and the Roman Fora (not included), or the Villa Borghese Gallery (not included), with its many pieces of art. In the afternoon you will visit the Vatican museum, repository of centuries of art and history. You'll marvel at this intersection of faith and beauty, including a visit of the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Return to your Hotel. Dinner on your own and overnight in Rome.
Day 04: ROME, TARQUINIA, TUSCANIA, CAPRAROLA, CORTONA
You'll enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before departing for Tarquinia and Tuscania, ancient sites of the Etruscans, the pre Roman civilization on the italic peninsula with a rich culture and history traces. After touring this remarkable area, the tour moves on to Caprarola, in Viterbo area, to visit the Villa Farnese complex and gardens, considered to be amongst the best in Italy. The journey will continue along the hill country towards the town of Cortona in Tuscany where after a nice dinner at your Hotel you will have a nice rest.
Day 05: CORTONA
After a tasty breakfast, you'll spend the day touring Cortona. This ancient town bears the legacy of the Etruscans, and is considered one of the oldest cities in Tuscany. Admire the breathtaking scenery overlooking the vineyards and enjoy the typical small town Italian lifestyle. Dinner will be enjoyed in a local trattoria, where you'll sample the finest recipes of Tuscany.
Day 06: CORTONA, SIENA, SAN GIMIGNANO, FLORENCE
Breakfast will be had at the hotel, before leaving for the medieval towns of Siena and San Gimignano. Both rich in history and atmosphere, you'll enjoy this step back in time in these Tuscany jewels. Lunch will be had in a farmhouse, and filled with the bounty of Tuscany, including a wine tasting, before moving on to the hotel in Florence for the night.
Day 07: FLORENCE
After breakfast at the hotel, you'll be taken on a guided walking tour of Florence. Called the "Cradle of the Renaissance," you'll marvel at the magnificent works of art and architecture, including the Cathedral with the Brunelleschi Dome, the Ponte Vecchio and the Baptistery, with doors so lovely that Michelangelo likened them to the doors of Heaven. The afternoon will find you with free time to explore Florence on your own, visit the Uffizi Gallery or the Accademia Gallery with the Michelangelo’s David or to consider a side trip to Pisa or Lucca (not included). You'll spend the night at your hotel in Florence.
Day 08: FLORENCE, VENICE
You'll enjoy breakfast, before boarding the Frecciarossa high speed train to Venice. Speed, comfort and style are on the agenda, as you glide through the Tuscan and Emilia Romagna landscape. The afternoon in Venice will be free to spend as you please, perhaps with a gondola ride (not included), until your candlelight dinner in a local restaurant on the Canal Grande. You’ll return to the hotel for the night.
Day 09: VENICE
After breakfast, you’ll go on a guided walking tour of Venice, stopping to see such delights as Doge Palace, St. Mark’s Square, the St. Mark’s Basilica and the Bridge of Sighs. In the afternoon, you’ll be free to explore the town on your own, imagining the paths of Marco Polo, before returning to your hotel for the night.
Day 10: VENICE
Breakfast will be had at the hotel in Venice, and you will have the rest of the day to yourself. Perhaps you’ll go an excursion to the Murano, Burano and Torcello islands (not included), strolling in the hidden calles and canals of the minor Venice, shopping for some Murano glass and Venetian masks, visit the Rialto food market or just enjoy people watching in St. Mark’s Square while sipping an espresso. The day will end at your hotel for your last overnight in Venice.
