Capri Food & Wine
Cibo (Food)
The food in Capri is glorious. Enjoy creamy white, local mozzarella served with sweet red tomatoes, glistening yellow olive oil, and deep green basil in an insalata caprese. The antipasto, alla Caprese, is a classic and has been exported and appreciated worldwide, and the ravioli alla caprese are hand-stuffed with a blend of local cheese.
Enjoy delicious seafood such as the risotto con limone e gamberetti (shrimp and lemon), linguine fra diavolo (linguini with lobster), or the zuppa di cozze (mussel soup) with beans, a local favorite. And not to be missed is the spaghetti alla chiummenzana, with cherry tomatoes, oregano, basil, and other aromatic herbs found on the island.
For dessert, sample the torta caprese (chocolate almond cake), also known as the torta di mandorle.
Vino (Wine)
Capri's extremely limited vineyards are on terraced slopes with calcareous soil and overlook the sea. Capri has two wines: Capri Bianco (mainly Falanghina and Greco, with up to 20 percent Biancolella); and Capri Rosso (mainly Piedirosso).
