A program aimed at letting you see Venice under a different light, from the point of view of its tradional flavours by cooking courses and wine tasting

ITINERARY

Day 1
Arrival at hotel. Welcome drink. Remainder of the day at leisure to unwind or get to know this magical and enchanting city. Dinner on your own and overnight stay.

Day 2
Breakfast at hotel and meet with your guide for an approx. 2 hour walking tour to explore the well known and lesser known sites of this city that seems suspended in a timeless dream. Lunch with free time on your own. In the afternoon there will be wine tasting of typical Venetian wines in a local inn: our professional wine taster will involve you in the session and ask you to reveal your sensations and impressions about the wines thus enabling you to discover the true spirit of the land the wines come from, she will give you information about their history and their organic characteristics as well as their versatility in matching with local food. You can have a tasting either before dinner or as a light meal adding a selection of different kinds of "Veneto" cheese and traditional Venetian appetizers called "cicchetti". All tastings will take place in a typical "osteria" or wine bar chosen for the quality of its wines and food products. Return to hotel for overnight stay.

Day 3
Breakfast. Spend one or more days learning about traditional Italian and Venetian cuisine, ranging from the strong flavours of the "Sopressa" (local salami) to the delicate freshness of its seasonal vegetables, its sweet and sour dishes of Arabic influence for example its famous "Sarde in soar" (sardines) or "Baccalà alla vicentina", a Scandinavian cod baked in a milk and anchovies sauce, and regional cookies like the Zaeti, with corn meal and raisins. In addition to an overall introduction, our expert cook will prepare the dishes in the well-equipped kitchen of a local Palazzo apartment near the Rialto market. The chef will entertain you by analyzing the intriguing fragrances, the exotic origins of some of the ingredients, and she will tell you about the cooking processes and the products being used. You will gain an understanding as to why, centuries after their creations these dishes are still so popular. The irresistible lunch, prepared in front of your eyes, will be served in the large dining room of this authentic Venetian home. A memorable day in Venice, indeed one never to be forgotten! We suggest you conclude your afternoon by taking a trip on a Gondola as the sun sets so that you can admire this wonderful city from down below and as its lights are slowly switched on.

Day 4
The morning could be spent cruising around the islands of Murano, Burano and Torcello or why not get lost amid the numerous alleys and squares that spread out like a spider's web through the heart of the Venice.
