Food (Cibo)

Mediterranean aromas and flavors from the vegetables characterize the gastronomic scene. The cuisine of Puglia is a “poor” cuisine, yet rich in inspiration, creativity and absolute authenticity.

The aromas of the fish from the Adriatic Sea are blended with the fresh flavors from the vegetable garden and the extraordinary olive oil.

WPUG09.jpgThe fragrance of bread, taralli and friselle, as well as fresh pasta, and tasty dairy productions will temp any visitor to try the region’s sumptuous dishes.

Every kind of fish is used in the fish soup ciambellotto and this, as well as tiella, a mix of rice, potatoes and mussels can be found on Brindisi’s table.

Brindisi is also famous, as is the whole region, for its sagre (food festivals): from the festival of frisa to that of the swordfish, from the sagre of the grapes to the sagre of orecchiette. Visitors always find an occasion to celebrate and taste the typical products of this fertile land.
