Culture Of The Region Friuli Venezia Giulia Of Italy

The Friuli Venezia Giulia region offers an exceptional variety of rustic, historical, cultural, and human scenery. Because of its ability to offer a wide range of new experiences, it is a region with a host of pleasant surprises. The people of Friuli and the mountains have a direct and well-defined, long-established relationship. The mountains, a place good for the body and the soul, mean greatness, strength, solemnity, and serenity.

There were significant social, political, and cultural ramifications after the diversification of Friuli Venezia Giulia into two distinct regions. Venetian Friuli kept its predominantly agricultural identity and had a period of political and social stability, while the rest of the region changed significantly. One example is when Trieste was declared a free port and the city turned into an important nerve center for the commercial trade, generated by the expansionist policy of the Hapsburgs. This resulted into a major trade center attracting a stream of immigration from the Mediterranean area and Austrian Empire. This mixture of peoples, races, and cultures had a major influence on the attitudes and character of the people in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
