Every autumn the Palio di Asti is held (medieval horse race) on the third Sunday of September. A thousand citizens dress as their medieval ancestors after which there is a bare back horse race around the arena of Campo del Paoli. Following the race, the night is filled with a hearty celebration of food and drink.
